Substitutions

How to complete Substitutions in the scorebook.

The team coach will inform the Umpire and the Scorers of any substitutions.
In the example below, the coach may say, "4 to 5, 5 to 4."

The coach means that Batters 4 (DANIELS at 2nd base) and 5 (ELLIS at third base) have swapped positions.
DANIELS is now at third base (#5 in the 'POS' column) and ELLIS is at second base (#4 in the 'POS' column).
The new fielding position numbers are just above and to the left of the relevant player names.
Line-up
The 7 just to the right of the new position number indicates the change happened at the Top of the 7th innings.
Think of the dash above or below the innings number representing the spiral binder in the scorebook
with the Top of the Innings above the binder/dash and the Bottom of the Innings below the binder.

In the example below, again the coach may use some shorthand speak,
"HARRIS at 4 for ELLIS and DANIELS to 5."

The coach means that. DANIELS (at 2nd base) has moved to 5 (third base) and
HARRIS has come in for ELLIS and moved to 4 (second base).
An again, the 7 jindicates the substitution and fielding position change happened at the Top of the 7th innings.
Line-up

In some junior games in which all 12 players bat, just list the batters in order
with "Bench" behind the name of those players that are not playing in the field in defence.
If they move into a fielding position, just indicate their position in the "POS" column and when it happened.
Cross out "Bench" on the new fielder and write it behind the player who moved to the bench.
